The best file recovery software I found

The problem (oops)

I recently accidentally overwrote the location (directory) where I was storing most of my CAD files. Having a background in computers, I knew that these files shouldn't really be erased from my computer (yet); but that their links/paths had simply been overwritten, destroyed, or that those files' space on the computer disk was just opened up to be overwritten by future files. 

So, after I couldn't find the files in my trash bin or in any other location on my own, I started to look for some sort of file/data recovery software that might be able to help. 

Specifically, I would be looking for .blend files from Blender, and .stl files, since these are the main file types I use when doing CAD work for product design.

The solution

I tried each of the following 3 data recovery systems. In this experience, Ease US did the best job of finding the greatest number of potentially-recoverable files, specifically when looking for .blend and .stl filetypes. I think each of them had the ability to search your computer for recoverable files without paying, but all required payment to actually do the recovering. At any rate, this allowed me to test all three to verify which one was projected to recover the most files.
